Visiting the Hometown of Great Figures to Recall Glorious Years, Tracing the Footsteps of Martyrs to Strengthen Our Mission and Responsibility — Zhejiang Dasheng Holding Group Co., Ltd.’s Red Tourism Journey in Hunan

2023-05-08

To thoroughly implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, inspire the continuation of the red legacy, carry forward an indomitable fighting spirit, and guide all Party members in strengthening their ideological foundation and cultivating a deep sense of patriotism, Dashing Holding Group Co., Ltd. organized a Party‑day activity from May 8 to May 11, 2023, themed “Visiting the Hometowns of Great Leaders to Recall Glorious Years, Tracing the Footsteps of Martyrs to Strengthen Our Mission and Responsibility.” By retracing historical milestones and engaging in diverse, multi‑faceted learning experiences, the initiative sought to refine Party members’ political character and infuse the company’s development with the inspiring power of the revolutionary tradition.

1. Orange Isle
Party members visited the Red Education Base at the head of Orange Isle, paid homage to the statue of Comrade Mao Zedong in his youth, and admired the picturesque scenery of “the Xiang River flowing northward, with Orange Isle at its head,” thereby experiencing the great leader’s profound sentiments and unshakable ideals. The entire sculpture stands proudly at the head of Orange Isle in Changsha, modeled after Mao Zedong in his youthful years of 1925. Measuring 32 meters in height, 83 meters in length, and 41 meters in width, it symbolizes that Chairman Mao was 32 years old in 1925, lived to the age of 83, and served as the leader for 41 years—making it the largest statue of the Chairman. Standing before the statue of Comrade Mao Zedong in his youth, the party members felt they had come to understand the epoch‑defining question posed in his famous verse, “Who shall decide the fate of this vast land?” They sensed the Chairman’s unwavering faith in the revolution and his confident belief in ultimate victory, and they were deeply moved by the heroic spirit of Communist Party members who regard the world as their own responsibility.

2. Shaoshan
Party members arrived at the Mao Zedong Bronze Statue Square. The statue was modeled after the Chairman’s appearance at the Founding Ceremony: dressed in a Zhongshan suit, with his Party membership card pinned to the left breast, holding a manuscript in his hand, and radiating vigorous spirit. With profound reverence, the party members slowly made their way toward the statue, laid a floral basket, paid their respects with a bow, and then circled the monument once, pausing to contemplate the great leader’s noble demeanor and to commemorate his illustrious life—dedicated to securing happiness for the people and national rejuvenation.

3. Hunan First Normal University
Party members visited the former site of Hunan First Normal University, located on Shuyuan Road in Changsha. The school buildings, with their dark blue walls, feature white arched‑top shutters and triangular tiled roofs, exuding a distinctly European architectural style. Renowned as a “millennial institution of learning and a century‑old teacher‑training college,” Hunan First Normal University is both the birthplace of Huxiang culture and one of the cradles of modern teacher education in China. It also stands as one of the origins of the Chinese communist movement and the New Democratic Revolution, and as a key locus where Mao Zedong Thought first took root and where the sinicization of Marxism was initiated.

4. Xiao Jingguang’s Former Residence
Xiao Jingguang was a founding general of the People’s Republic of China. Chairman Mao once remarked of him: “Xiao Jingguang is a hidden dragon biding his time; he possesses the demeanor of a great general, is a distinguished intellectual, and is the first military scholar to have received formal, systematic training in the art of war.”
Xiao Jingguang’s former residence is a traditional three‑courtyard house with a central hall and two side wings, all roofed in tiles. Upon entering the main hall stands a bronze statue of Xiao Jingguang. The western wing has been preserved in its original state, serving as the bedrooms, passage room, and kitchen of Xiao Jingguang’s parents and siblings. Meanwhile, the eastern wing displays exhibits chronicling his life and personal belongings; the walls are adorned with inscriptions highlighting his distinguished achievements—beginning with his participation in the anti‑imperialist patriotic movement, through his leadership in the Northern Expedition, and extending to the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the Liberation War—where he fought valiantly across the country, earning remarkable military honors. As party members toured Xiao Jingguang’s former residence, they once again delved deeply into the noble spirit of the older generation of revolutionaries, profoundly appreciating the unwavering patriotism and tireless dedication of their revolutionary forebears in safeguarding the nation and defending the homeland.

5. Aiwan Pavilion
Party members visited Aiwan Pavilion, one of China’s four famous pavilions. The pavilion faces east, with a square, double-eaved roof covered in green glazed tiles; its eaves extend far outward and curve upward, and the summit is crowned with a glazed-tile finial, lending the structure an overall sense of fluid grace and lightness. Beneath Aiwan Pavilion, the guide explained the origin of its name and recounted the stirring tales of revolutionary pioneers like Mao Zedong, who gathered there to discuss the state of affairs and seek paths to save the nation and its people. Passing along a path paved with bluestone slabs, all party members and cadres paused beside a cave in Qingfeng Gorge, the former wartime command post of the Ninth War Zone Command in Changsha. With vivid eloquence, the guide recounted the heroic story of how the Ninth War Zone organized four battles for the defense of Changsha against the Japanese invaders, further strengthening the party members’ ideals and convictions of loyalty to the Party and love for the country.
